A while back a patent filed by Microsoft indicated the tech giant was working on a way to turn your whole wall into a screen.
Now we've seen what that actually looks like - and it's incredible.
The 'IllumiRoom' concept video is a simple showcase for what could be a transformative technology in next-generation gaming. A projector hooked up to the console is able to push images 'beyond' the screen, creating an amazing sense of depth and scale.
Microsoft says the aim is "to push the boundary of living room immersive entertainment by blending our virtual and physical worlds with projected visualizations".
It adds: "the effects in the video are rendered in real time and are captured live -- not special effects added in post processing."
If this concept can hit the market in time for the next-generation of Xbox consoles, or even a few years after, it would be a huge step forward.
