A migraine attack can be a real nightmare to deal with.
Migraine is a common condition, affecting one in five women and one in 15 men.
It is described as a moderate or severe headache, characterised by a throbbing pain on one side of the head.
Many people who suffer from migraine attacks will also experience nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound.
To help you know when one is coming so you can make a beeline for your bedroom, here are six key migraine warning signs:
1. Aura
Flickering lights, spots or lines in your vision.
2. Yawning
Can be a sign of an impending migraine, especially if it happens every few minutes.
3. Cravings
You might crave certain foods (like chocolate).
4. Needing to wee
Frequent urination can mean a migraine is on its way.
5. Mood swings
Mood changes sometimes happen before a migraine. You might feel really excited or you might feel down.
6. Trouble speaking
This can also signal stroke, so be mindful of other symptoms and speak to your GP if you are concerned.
