MTV has announced that the upcoming series of Ex On The Beach has been pulled, following the death of Mike Thalassitis.
The reality show was due to return later this year for its 10th series, with Mike having served as a contestant.
However, MTV has revealed that they will not be showing the series after all, after Mike’s death at the age of 26 last weekend.
They told MailOnline: “We were very sad to hear the tragic news about Mike Thalassitis and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
“Last year, Mike took part in filming for the next series of Ex on the Beach, which was due to air on MTV later in the year. In light of the news of Mike’s death, we have decided not to broadcast the planned 10th season of the show.”
Originally known for his short-lived stint on the third series of Love Island, Mike’s death has led to a debate about the need for more aftercare for contestants on the ITV2 dating show.
This has led Love Island producers to announce that they’ll be making changes to the support process, telling HuffPost UK: “This review has led us to extend our support processes to offer therapy to all Islanders and not only those that reach out to us.
“And we will be delivering bespoke training to all future Islanders to include social media and financial management.
“The key focus will be for us to no longer be reliant on the islanders asking us for support but for us to proactively check in with them on a regular basis.”
