Many people were expecting Miley Cyrus' usual flesh-flashing antics for her star turn on The X Factor, but instead witnessed her cover up in a gold crepe dress.

The Marc Jacobs autumn/winter 2013 design didn't go down that well in the Twitter-sphere however, with some comparing her look to Aladdin, and others bemoaning the fact it looked like bako foil.
Miley, however, appeared quite happy with the look, sending a thank you tweet to the designers.
And it appears she's also reacted to people complaining about her covered-up look, writing: "Damned if you do damned if you don't."
We can totally see that might be annoying - perhaps it just wasn't the right kinda covered up dress.
Now that green sequinned Jenny Packham number was more like it...
