Miley Cyrus has shared an emotional letter with her fans where she reveals that she is still in mourning following the death of her beloved dog Floyd.

Miley was on the US leg of her ‘Bangerz’ tour in America back in April when she discovered that her Alaskan Klee Kai had passed away, taking to her Twitter page to say she was “broken” and in “unbearable” pain, adding it was the: “2nd worst day of my life.”

Since then the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer has paid tribute to Floyd several times in her live show, dedicating a performance of Coldplay’s hit ‘The Scientist’ to him and singing her hit ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ at the feet of a giant statue of the dog.

The singer is currently travelling around Europe as part of her ‘Bangerz’ tour, but admitted on Twitter on Saturday that she was having a particularly bad day in Dublin.

After telling fans she was feeling “#cranky”, she revealed that she hated the breaks between her shows, explaining: “I wanna either be doing shows or be at home #hatedaysoff

Miley then went on to post a lengthy open letter where she revealed that the root of her sadness was the recent death of her dog, writing: “I keep asking why would the world take my sweet boy from me? A question an infinite amount of mothers before & after me will ask after losing their precious baby.

“A mother's greatest responsibility is to keep their baby from anyone hurting them physically or emotionally. I was Floyd's mommy. I don't know when the regret and the guilt will fade… I don't know if it ever will. I feel like I let my boy down.”

After Floyd’s death Miley treated herself to a new dog, who she named Moonie, though she later gave the puppy away, explaining she felt it was “too soon” to love another dog.

Despite her sad letter, it does look like the star is taking some time to enjoy herself while she’s on the road, throwing her mum a wild birthday party this week complete with animal masks and an array of colourful wigs.
