Miley Cyrus has posted a powerful statement on her Twitter page, after a video was circulated showing a supposed fan grabbing and kissing her without her consent.
Earlier this week, footage of Miley in Barcelona was posted online, showing someone lunging at Miley from a crowd of fans, first grabbing her by the hair and shoulder and then pulling her in for an unwanted kiss.
After pulling away from the fan, Miley is seen moving quickly towards her husband Liam Hemseworth, who then takes her under his arm.
Sharing footage of the incident on her Twitter, including a news report which includes messages from trolls suggesting she was “asking for it” with the way she was dressed, Miley addressed the subject on Tuesday night.
Miley wrote: “She can be wearing what she wants. She can be a virgin. She can be sleeping with five different people.
“She can be with her husband. She can be with her girlfriend. She can be naked.
“She CAN’T be grabbed without her consent.”
She also shared screengrabs of a number of comments poking fun at the incident, writing: “Don’t fuck with my freedom.”
The chart-topping singer had been in Barcelona for the city’s Primavera festival, where she performed tracks from her latest collection of music, an EP titled She Is Coming.
Miley is also the star of one of three new episodes of Black Mirror, which debuted on Netflix this morning, which she says tells the story of “females in the music industry”.
In the episode, she plays a troubled pop star called Ashley O, whose likeness is used for an interactive new doll, Ashley Too.
