Millie Bobby Brown has defended her friendship with Drake, after revealing she often turns to the rapper for advice.
Earlier this week, the ‘Stranger Things’ star was interviewed on the Emmys red carpet, where she discussed how she’s in regular contact with Drake over text.
“We just texted each other and he was like, ‘I miss you so much’ and I was like ‘I miss you too!’”, she told Access Hollywood. “[We talk] about boys, he helps me.”
She then refused to go any further into detail, insisting what happens in their text messages “stays in the text messages”.
Shortly after the interview, some critics suggested that the pair’s text friendship bordered on inappropriate, largely due to their 17-year age gap, and the fact that Millie is still only 14.
However, she has now hit back in a note she posted on her Instagram story, branding her detractors “weird… for real.”
“Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline?” she wrote. “U guys are weird… for real.
“Im lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. Im very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U dont get to choose that for me. Its nice to have people understand what I do [sic].”
She added: “Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez.”
This post was quickly followed by a message to her supporters, which read: “I love you guys. Thank you for supporting me. Many thanks to u guys. Sending my love to wherever u are in the world.”
Over the summer, it was reported that the teenage actress had deleted her Twitter account after becoming the centre of an ironic meme, though she is still active on Instagram.
Following this, she sent a message to her fans urging them to rise above “bullying” in an acceptance speech at the MTV Awards.
