Alexia Pinchbeck, founder and designer of swimwear brand Bikini Fling, is on a mission to help women everywhere find their perfect two-piece for the beach this summer. MyDaily caught up with the rising star and chatted tangle teasers, doodling and The Little Mermaid...
When I look in the mirror I see... depending on the time of day I see a pair of mischievous eyes. They're slanty and green and make me look like I'm up to no good. First thing in the morning I see hair and LOTS of it. I'm the type of person who wears makeup everyday but I like to look natural, and feel pretty and good about myself.
If I were stranded on a desert island with one thing, it would be... well, you probably think I'd say a bikini but I reckon if I was on an island by myself I'd do away with all that. I'd take a pen or a pencil with me. If I'm allowed to break the rules I'd take a pen and pencil, notepad, paints and some colours. I do a lot of drawing and if I had more time I'd like to get some writing done too.
If I could take one more thing it would be my tangle teaser. I don't think I'd be able to last on a desert island without being able to brush my hair.
I'd pack a dress I could throw on and feel great in. Probably something short in a jersey material with a few printed details. If I could take jewellery, I'd bring my favourite turquoise ring!
When I was at school I wanted to be... I don't know really. I've always admired those people who knew exactly what they wanted to be from a young age. I was a bit of a goody goody at school so I just generally focused on my studies. Although, I always loved doodling.
My biggest triumph was... realising my pie in the sky dream of having my own brand. When I told people what I wanted to do they thought I was a bit bonkers. When I got my first production room, it was a great feeling because it took a lot to get to that point. My first catwalk show was amazing, I loved the big gathering of forces that went into putting on that show – though I'm not a fan of the bit when I have to do a walk of the runway.
If I could be any character from film or literature I'd be... Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I first watched it when I was five-years-old and I still know all the words to every song. I think I was and still am a little bit in love with Eric. AND I also loved the fact that she brushed her hair with a fork, maybe that's something I'd have to try out when I'm stranded on that desert island.
