After making it through to judges houses in the 2012 series of The X Factor, Leanne Robinson released her debut EP Exhibit A. Now, ahead of her latest release, she talks Pocahontas, maxi dresses and 'fesses up to what she wanted to be at school...

When I look in the mirror I see... it varies on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes I look at myself and I see just a normal girl, an average girl. And other days I'll look in the mirror and hate what I see and think: "It's all gone wrong today!" And then other days I'll think: "Yeah you got it going on." If I've had enough sleep the night before I'll happily leave the house without any makeup on, but if I haven't I'll slap it on to hide the dark circles.

If I was stranded on a desert island with only one dress it would be... a little black dress because you can never go wrong. I'd probably go out and buy one especially for the occasion!

When I was at school I wanted to be... a singer, I've always wanted to be a singer. I've loved the idea of being on the stage and performing for as long as I can remember. I wanted to be a vet, when I was really small because I liked animals and I had a cat. I think everyone wanted to be a vet at some point.

My biggest style triumph was... I was in a restaurant on holiday in Tenerife I had on this long flowing floral maxi dress, a girl came up to me and said: "Have you ever thought about modelling?" I did good that day.

If I could be any character from film or literature I'd be... I watch a lot of films so this is a hard one. I think I'd be Pocahontas because she's just cool. She's very in touch with nature and has that long black hair. She's quite a strong character as well, that's the thing I like most about her.
