Contestants ranging from sizes 14 to 26 have taken part in a beauty pageant for curvy women.

The Miss British Beauty Curve competition saw 30 women don evening gowns and swimsuits to showcase their physiques.

Freelance TV presenter and current Miss Norfolk Curve Emily Blake, 24, walked away with the title at the The Lost Theatre, in London's Wandsworth on Sunday night.

The Miss British Beauty Curve is open to contestants ranging from size 14-26

Among the outfits Blake showed off her size 16 curves in were a daring yellow bikini and sexy red dress.

She said: "I feel like I'm dreaming, and I'll wake up and it won't be real.

"I'm so proud that I've won. I love being plus size, it makes me feel sexy and women who are bigger should be confident with their curves.

"When most people think of beauty queens they think of perfect bodies, tiny waists and never-ending legs.

"But I eat healthily and I exercise so I know I'm fit, this is how women should look. It's natural. I'm proof that you don't have to be a perfect ten to be a beauty queen."

The annual competition - open to women sized 14 and above - was judged by a panel of four including last year's winner Elena Raouna, 23, a part-time model, who handed winner Blake her crown and sash at the end.

Judge Rio Watchorn, 21, who won Miss British Beauty Curve 2012, said the judges were looking for confidence above everything else in the winner.

"The competition is all about saying, 'yes it wobbles, get over it," she explained.

We want everyone competing to be proud of their curvy body, which is sexy and natural.

"I'm looking for a winner who isn't scared to flaunt their curves. It isn't easy to get up on stage in front of a room full of people, never mind when you are wearing a swimsuit, so all of the girls are incredibly brave to take part.

"It's great fun and it sends a healthy message to women everywhere - you can be big and beautiful. There is too much pressure on girls to be stick-thin these days, it isn't healthy."

The rest of the judging panel included Miss Plus Size International Gemma Cruickshank, 24, who now designs her own plus-size clothing, and The Voice 2014 finalist KiKi deVille, 41.

Runners-up at the pageant were Miss South London Curve 2014, Dionne Elliot, 29, and Miss North East London, Victoria Bedford, 27, who were presented with crowns, sashes and bouquets of marshmallows.

Speaking after collecting her crown, second runner-up Elliot, a size 16 fashion student, said: "I feel amazing, this is the sexiest I've ever felt.

"I love this competition, it's all about being a powerful woman and showing the world that you can be sexy and not a size 0.

"I loved every second, especially strutting across the stage in my pink cut-out swimsuit. The crowd loved it."
