Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was forced to admit she’d made a big mistake, as a familiar face returned to audition for ‘The X Factor’ on Saturday (12 September) night’s episode.

Monica Michael tried her luck for a second time during the latest round of tryouts for the ITV talent show, following her unsuccessful stint last year.
Fans will remember that she wowed the judges with her room audition in 2014, when she sang a song about her sister, even making Cheryl cry.

However, the former Girls Aloud singer unceremoniously dumped her from the competition during the Six Chair Challenge round, which proved to be a hugely unpopular decision at the time.
Despite her knock back, Monica returned better than ever, as she performed Christina Aguilera’s ‘Impossible’ for Cheryl and fellow judges Simon Cowell, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw.
After stunning them with her performance, Simon commented: “We made a big mistake with you last year but it happens.
“It’s a good thing you’ve come back because I think you’re interesting.
“I always want to see and hear your personality and that distinctiveness in your voice - don’t ever lose that. It’s all about being real.”
Cheryl also claimed that dumping her from her Girls category was her “biggest regret” from last year, adding: “I don’t know what it is, but you do something to me when you perform. The way you sing, honestly, you are so talented. I think you’ve got it all. This time you’ve come back better, stronger. I just love you.
“You are the biggest regret of my category last year. It’s definitely a yes from me,” she said, after also earning three other yeses.

Elsewhere on tonight’s show, there were impressive auditions from gospel groups Belkn and Silver Tone.
While girlband Silver Tone originally disappointed with their rendition of Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’, Simon threw them a lifelime when he told them to go away and rehearse a different song, before returning to audition.
They then impressed the panel with a mash-up of Mary Mary’s ‘Can’t Give Up Now’ and Aretha Franklin’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, earning them four yeses.
Bekln, who are friends with Silver Tone, having all been members of a North London gospel choir, also won a place at Bootcamp with their soulful rendition of James Bay’s hit ‘Hold Back The River’.
