Mum Described As 'Tub Of Lard' After She Complained About Faulty Sofa

A sofa company sent a disgruntled mum an abusive text message describing her as a 'tub of lard'.

Natalie Day, from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, received the message after she complained about a faulty sofa.

The 26-year-old claims the manager of the firm also threatened to add her photo and contact details to an online escort site, break the windows of her house, and beat up her boyfriend.

The saga began when she took delivery of the £499 sofa - at 4am one morning - only to find the legs were missing.

When she complained to the manager of the Huddersfield-based Equinox Retail, she then started receiving the abusive messages.

One text read: "You look like some fat tub of lard, but it doesn't matter we still have 24 orders going out. Have fun scratching your floor.

"You're just an address to me, nothing else. I personally hate ugly little rats especially fat overweight ones with no career or intelligence.

"Your boyfriend looks like something out of a horror show - I dread to think what your kids will turn into."

The mum-of-three said: "I don't even know the boy, but he was throwing all this abuse at me. I was very upset about it, but I would not show it him."

Natalie was then contacted by West Yorkshire Police, who were investigating a report into HER behaviour from the company's owner, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

She said: "I told the police the whole story from my point of view, about how I was originally told I would receive the sofa at about 8pm, that there was no feet for it.

"I told the police that the legs didn't arrive, so I had called up the manager again and he said 'I'm not interested in your feet, I've got enough to worry about'.

"The police said they couldn't do much as it is a civil matter. They said they would warn him and told me not to contact him again to save the bother."

The Mail reports that telephone numbers linked to Equinox Retail have not been contactable and their website has been taken down. A spokesman from West Yorkshire Police said they could not comment on the matter.
