A Kent mum has told her local newspaper how both her children have been born with an extremely rare condition which leaves them sensitive to light and only able to see in shades of black and white.
Louise Webb, 35, found out her first child, Harvey, now three, had achromatopsia when she noticed something wrong with his eyes when he was eight weeks old.
She took him to the doctors when his eyes started shaking, and when he was six months old, medics at Moorfields Eye hospital in London diagnosed him with achromatopsia.
When Louise became pregnant with daughter Megan, now 19-weeks-old, she found at at 14 weeks that the little girl would have the same condition.
Louise told thisiskent:
"It's a sad situation but I like to focus on the positives. Harvey and Megan will see the world together".
Louise and her husband Andy, 34, say their little boy is happy and sociable, and that they have adapted to everyday life with their children. Harvey wears prescription sunglasses from the moment he gets up until he goes to bed, and is happy with the explanation that like his mum, he wears glasses to 'see better'.
