Rupert Murdoch has given his first full interview since the phone hacking scandal engulfed News International.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, which is owned by News Corp, Murdoch used the interview to announce that his company will establish an independent committee to investigate "every charge of improper conduct".
Murdoch said that he was "tired" by the scandal, but that he thought his team had handled the crisis "extremely well". Murdoch added that speculation he would sell the rest of his News International newspapers was "rubbish" and denied them in the strongest possible terms.
The damage to the company "will be nothing that will not be recovered", Murdoch said. "We have a reputation of great good works in this country."
Murdoch also criticised Gordon Brown for making allegations against the Sunday Times and The Sun. Brown "got it entirely wrong", Murdoch said. He also accused some MPs of telling "lies" in parliament.
