Jonathan May-Bowles, the man accused of throwing a foam pie at News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch during a parliamentary hearing over phone hacking, has admitted to the charge in court.
The activist, who is also known by his stage name 'Jonnie Marbles', admitted assault and causing harassment, alarm or distress at the Westminster Magistrate's Court in London on Friday, Sky News reported.
The 26-year-old of Edinburgh Gardens, Windsor, is accused of throwing a paper plate covered in foam at Murdoch's face as he gave evidence before the Commons Culture Media and Sport Committee two weeks ago.
Murdoch's wife, Wendi Deng, leapt up to beat the activist away. She pushed him and then threw the plate at him as he was led away by police.
May-Bowles now faces a public order offence.
