Andy Murray overcame a giant obstacle to keep his dream of a second Wimbledon title alive as he fought his way into the quarter-finals.

The 28-year-old needed three hours and three minutes to beat 6ft 10in Ivo Karlovic, the tallest player on the men's tour.

Murray took the first two sets only for the beanpole Croatian to pull one back before the Scot finished the job in the fourth.

Despite Karlovic's size Murray was able to get past him with impressive passing and lob shots and will now face Canada's Vasek Pospisil.

Britain's number one said that today's match had been "incredibly difficult" and draining.

He said: "It's not as physically difficult because the points are fairly quick but mentally it's quite tiring because you have to be quite focused on every single point and you just have to be ready when your chances come."
