|

Newsweek is no stranger to controversy.

In 2011 it raised eyebrows after splashing with a wide-eyed snap of Tea Party politician Michele Bachmann, and two before it led with a provocative cover asking: 'Is your baby racist?'.

Its most recent cover, however, has managed to spark more ridicule than anger.

Penned by an author who once called for Islam to be "defeated", Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the story covers the global protests over Innocence of Muslims - has inspired a spoof meme.
