When it came to planning their wedding, Katy and Elliott wanted something low-key and chilled out. So, they exchanged their vows in the registry office at Barnard Castle, County Durham, in April 2013, with only their best friends as their witnesses and their one-year-old daughter Ramona in attendance.
To make sure friends and family (and especially Katy's mum!) didn't feel left out, the couple threw a celebration party and ceremony a few months later at The Castle Wall Wine Bar in Barnard Castle, where friends and family played a role in every aspect of the occasion, including cakes, decorations, entertainment, music and the photos, which were captured by Sarah Lucy Brown.
Since the day was about creating happy memories, the couple didn't spend extravagantly, with Elliott wearing a suit from his wardrobe and Katy ordering her peach dress on eBay.
"It looks vintage but it is actually new and came all the way from China. The postage cost more than the dress itself!" says Katy.

With Katy's mum taking charge of the decor (using lots of personal mementos, from shells the family had collected on holidays to Katy's Grandpa's step ladders and Grandma's potato basket), baking the cake and finishing Katy's hairstyle off with flowers, the couple managed to keep everything intimate while saving on costs.
