Neil Hamilton, Ukip's leader in the Welsh Assembly, triggered an outcry on Wednesday by describing Leanne Wood and Kirsty Williams as "concubines".
Hamilton was speaking after the Plaid Cymru leader and Lib Dem voted to re-elect Labour's Carwyn Jones as Welsh First Minister.
"I am afraid these two ladies have made themselves political concubines in Carwyn's hareem," Hamilton said.
And his attack on the pair for being "dodgy" drew laughter from many members of the Assembly.
Hamilton, a former Tory MP, lost his seat in the Commons in 1997 in the wake of the cash-for-questions scandal.
