Citizens of France are once again opening their doors in the wake of a terror attack to offer shelter from those caught up in the tragic events in Nice on Thursday evening.
After a truck drove into Bastille Day crowds killing at least 84 people, the hashtag #PorteOuverteNice appeared on Twitter.
Many people stranded around the city used it to seek help.
”I’m at the airport looking for accommodation please!!!!”
”Gallieni Avenue about 5 minutes from the old - nice !!! Come if you have no where.”
”I was at the festival with my 2 girls please help us, we are Avenue Saint Augustine, the hotel is closed.”
Others use it to let people know they had accommodation available.
“For those that need I am 5 minutes from Nice”

”Space available at Acropolis”
The hashtag is also being used by people searching for loved ones.
A similar hashtag originated after the horrific terror attacks in November of last year which killed 130 people.
Many of those killed in Nice were children celebrating France’s national holiday.
The truck drove 2km (1.2 miles) through crowds gathered on the Promenade des Anglais.
The attacker is believed to be a 31-year-old Franco-Tunisian who was shot dead by police.
