Nick Grimshaw has opened up about the recent death of his close friend Peaches Geldof, admitting that her tragic passing made him re-think his lifestyle.

Peaches was found dead in the home she shared with her husband and two young children earlier this year, toxicology reports showed that heroin played a role in her death.

Nick and Peaches often moved in the same social circles and the presenter counts her sister Pixie as one of his close pals.

Though Nick refused to talk directly about Peaches, he did tell The Times: “[Peaches’ death] has made me re-evaluate my life and what I am doing with it. It makes me stop and think.

I have had a healthier lifestyle for quite a while now. I eat better food and drink less and I am trying to be fitter and part of that is because I have to get up very early and I need to function.”

However, Grimmy admitted that it wouldn’t be possible for him to cut out partying completely, claiming that rubbing shoulders with celeb pals such asHarry Styles, Lily Allen and Rita Ora were all part of his presenting job.

Nick took over the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show in September 2012 when previous host Chris Moyles stepped down after eight years.
