It's been a tough season for Leicester and no one knows that better than manager Nigel Pearson - not that he's doing much to hide it.
Despite a run of four wins, a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday was too much and the strain finally burst through in the form of an ostrich-themed rant.
Journalist Ian Baker asked a perfectly reasonable question which prompted a stream of criticism, abuse and very odd comparisons from Pearson.
Baker: What criticism are you talking about?
Pearson: Have you been on holiday for six months? Have you been away for six months?
Baker: I am not quite sure what specific criticism you are referring to?
Pearson: I think you must have been either head in the clouds or away on holiday or reporting on a different team because if you don't know the answer to that question... your question is absolutely unbelievable... the fact you do not understand where I am coming from. If you don't know the answer to that question, then I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be 'no'.
For his part, this morning Baker was at a loss to explain Pearson's "strange" behaviour, telling SportsBreakfast: "As a journalist you've got to have thick skin and you've got to take these things... you have to be as strong as possible."
But by Thursday morning, 'Nigel Pearson' was top trend on Twitter and the public had wasted no time in indulging in a bit of mockery.
