A nurse has been suspended after attacking a police officer and saying "just you wait if your mum ever has to be cared for by me".

Roxanne Mahroof worked at the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and launched a rant at the female officer on July 2, 2013.

According to a Nursing and Midwifery Council report, she said: "Do you know who I f****** am, I'm a f****** nurse, just you wait if your mum ever has to be cared for by me."

She was sentenced to a community order for assaulting the officer, as well as damaging a double-glazed door in a separate incident, and ordered to carry out 250 hours unpaid work when she appeared at Solihull Magistrates' Court.

Mahroof was jailed for eight weeks last year when she was found guilty of assault.

The victim suffered "repeated blows" from a bottle during the attack which took place at a friend's house.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council suspended her from practising for a year saying her convictions impaired her fitness to practice.

A report said: "Your actions are considered to be unlawful and inappropriate, and fell far below the standards of a registered nurse.

"You stated that you are remorseful and embarrassed about your behaviour, but that you have taken responsibility for your actions. You stated that you were disgusted with your behaviour.

"The panel was very close to the decision of a striking-off order. The panel concluded that a suspension order for 12 months was the appropriate and proportionate order in this case, to mark the seriousness of your convictions."
