The Nuytco Research 'exosuit' isn't exactly new - as far as we can tell a version of it has existed for at least a couple of year.
But thanks to the Daily Mail and Wired it's finally made the news, mainly because somebody realised it looks just like Buzz Lightyear.
The suit is designed to let deep sea explorers move in a natural, relatively dextrous way at depths of 1,000 feet.
The suit is made of aluminium, with 18 joints in the arms and legs. It is able to supply oxygen for up to 50 hours, and maintains communication with the surface via an optical cable. It also has four 1.6 horsepower thrusters on the back to help the diver move around underwater at - again, relatively - high speeds.
Costing about £360,000, the suit is designed for research scientists and commercial diving companies, but a lighter, 'swimming' edition is planned too.
