How does your town shape up?

Time and time again we hear that the UK is in the midst of an obesity epidemic, but it seems some towns and cities have more of a weight problem than others.

Researchers from online pharmacy allcures.com have created an interactive obesity map revealing the most and least obese areas of Britain.

They analysed data from the most recent Public Health England report on obesity, as well as the most recent national health surveys from Scotland and Wales to create the graphic.

With 38% of the adult population being considered as obese, the Western Isles was found to be the heaviest area in the UK.

Meanwhile Richmond upon Thames was found to be the least obese area, with just 12% of adults being considered obese.

Under NHS guidelines, a person is considered to be obese if they have a BMI of 30 to 39.9 and severely obese if their BMI is above 40.
