An formerly obese dachshund is recovering well after successful surgery to remove folds of excess skin.

On the road to recovery: Obie after his surgery
A combination of hydrotherapy and treadmill work helped Obie slim down and on Tuesday he had necessary surgery to remove some of his excess skin.
An update on his Facebook page says prior to his operation, which was carried out at Oregon’s Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin, Obie weighed in at 37lbs and 4oz.
How he was: Obie used to weigh 77lbs
With the extra skin likely to only weigh a few pounds, Obie still has a way to go before he reaches his idea weight of 28 to 30lbs.
Since his surgery Obie continues to do well, is now eating and does not seem to be in any pain.
Attaboy Obie!
