When Olivia Wilde posed while breastfeeding her son for a magazine shoot, she was draped in a fancy frock and dripping with jewels.

But the Third Person actress has admitted (thank god) that the designer shoot is a far cry from her life as a mum at home.

Speaking about the photos, Olivia told the Today show: "It's funny, that picture grew out of a very organic moment. I was working, I was shooting the cover of Glamour, and I needed to feed my son Otis.

"Either I was going to do it off-camera or on, and I thought, 'You know what, shoot it, because this is part of my real life'. But no, usually he has a diaper on and I've never looked that good breastfeeding - and I never will!'

And it seems there is a very good reason why designer gear is usually left in the dressing up box at home – Otis wasn't having any of the glamour, choosing to pee all over the expensive dress.

"He christened it!" Olivia told the show.

Excellent work, Otis!

Talking to Glamour magazine at the time of the shoot, Olivia said: "Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn't complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that.

"Breastfeeding is the most natural thing. I don't know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multi-faceted woman we've been discussing - that we know we can be.

"You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed. But I mean, I certainly don't really look like that when I'm typically breastfeeding. And there's usually a diaper involved."
