Olly Murs Addresses Rumours He's Replacing Dermot O'Leary On 'The X Factor': 'I Would Never Do It... Without Caroline Flack'

Olly Murs has said he wouldn’t want to take over from Dermot O’Leary on ‘The X Factor’, insisting that he would “never try to be Dermot O’Leary”.

It was announced last week that, after eight years with the show, Dermot would not be returning to present ‘The X Factor’, with rumours circulating over the weekend that Caroline Flack was being considered to co-host the show with Olly.

Olly has now claimed that he wouldn’t want to fill in for Dermot, telling The Sun: “There’s no way I would even discuss doing the job on my own to replace Dermot. Dermot is one of my best mates in the industry.

“He’s my showbiz brother. I would never do the job on my own and never try to be Dermot O’Leary.”

However, he did change his tune somewhat when the subject of co-presenting with Caroline was brought up.

He revealed: “The only way I would even think or talk about it would be if Caroline was doing it with me because me and Caroline were great together.

“I wouldn’t want us to be compared to Dermot, because Dermot is brilliant at what he is.

“It would be completely different to what Dermot did.”

Reports on Sunday claimed that Dermot wasn’t the only familiar face who wouldn’t be returning to ‘The X Factor’, following claims that Louis Walsh had been axed after 11 years with the show.
