A lorry carrying a gigantic octopus has broken down in London’s Oxford Circus.

The impressive specimen – which appears to be made of polystyrene – is currently beached on the back of a flatbed.

Could it be the next World Cup soothsayer? (RIP Paul the psychic octopus.)

Your guess is as good as ours…

UPDATE: We were right! Betfair has owned up to being responsible for the Oxford Circus octopus.

The bookmaker tweeted: "We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused by the breakdown this morning at Oxford Circus.

"While transporting a prop which was used in a recent advertising campaign, unfortunately our truck broke down on its way to a holding location."
