The show notes at Alexander McQueen's show confirmed the inspiration in four words. Sarah Burton looked to "Beauty and the Beast" for her Autumn/Winter 2014 collection and with a rugged, mossy landscape covering the catwalk, it was impossible to ignore the influence of nature and wilderness.
Dresses were ruffled or adorned with feathers and huge fur coats with hoods were the cosiest we've seen on the Paris catwalk so far. The eyelashes? Owl-inspired...
Lace-up boots were flat and sturdy (no girl would want to wander on this heath in heels) but there was a softer, romantic edge in this collection too.
A series of sheer white lace gowns were fit for a fairytale and one of the shorter styles was embellished with a sparkling star print. Even the dramatic floor-length gowns in black and emerald were soft and flowing in shape.
