Oh dear, it would seem showbiz mums Peaches Geldof and Katie Price are in the midst of a war-of-words over Peaches' parenting style...

In her column in The Sun, celebrity mum of the year (twice!) Katie criticised Peaches - who recently announced she is expecting her second son - for allowing the family dog to cuddle up to her six-month-old baby boy Astala.

"Let's hope she grows up a bit more before becoming a mum to two tots," Katie wrote in her column.

"An animal is an animal and that means they can turn on you at any point. All new mums should also remember that dogs can easily get jealous of new babies."

An exasperated Peaches was obviously not best pleased with Katie's comments and took to Twitter to defend her 'gentle, sweet' golden retriever Parpy and the snaps of him with his 'best friend' Astala.

In a series of tweets, Peaches wrote:

"Funny that Katie Price aka "Jordan" (lol) thinks that I shouldn't allow my gentle, sweet golden retriever dog near his best friend my son."

"I could say the same thing to her about letting some of the multitude of "boyfriends" she has near her kids. They all seem to be more vicious and far less intelligent than my dog will ever be.

"And I do just LOVE seeing her flashing her vag in the press all the time. *vom*.

A female role model for the times if ever I saw one, and of course the perfect person to be lecturing me about my mothering skills. Er...

Peaches certainly divides opinion when it comes to bringing up her little boy - as demonstrated by the response to our writer's praise of her mummy-skills last week - and the previous outcry her cute baby and doggy family snaps provoked.

She didn't let today's barney get to her too much though, as shortly after her anti-Katie tweets, her normal Twitter service resumed with pics of Parpy in the park and Astala enjoying a bowl of scrambled eggs - the pair of them no doubt blissfully unaware of the furore their closeness provokes!

What do you think? Is Katie right to voice her concerns so publicly, or should we keep our thoughts on other mums' parenting skills firmly to ourselves?
