Paedophiles are stealing the images proud parents post of their children on Facebook and sharing them on pages viewed by perverts.

The Mirror reports that paedophiles trawl the popular social networking site copying pictures that mums and dads have put up of their kids and steal them to display on their own depraved pages.

An investigation is said to have uncovered paedophile Facebook pages displaying hundreds of pictures of children, some as young as eight. The photos range from children playing on beach holidays, through to teenage girls innocently posing in underwear.

They report that among the stolen pictures were sickening child porn images with captions such as 'Lolita', 'Jailbait-cuties', 'Naturalist kids lovers' and 'cute and gay boys'.

The paper says that several pages were closed down by Facebook following their findings.

Simon Milner, director of policy for Facebook UK and Ireland, told the Mirror that the organisation was serious about keeping children safe, but said that it wasn't easy to control the lawful images that attract paedophiles.

"We can act on known illegal images with (monitoring program) photoDNA, take measures and disable accounts – but legal images are harder," he said. "Although the images aren't illegal, they are creepy pics of kids and we take action in a way you won't find elsewhere."
