Piers Morgan’s friendship with Donald Trump has hit a rocky patch after the Good Morning Britain presenter called out the US president for his “senseless” coronavirus comments.
And in typical Trump style, he showed just how much of a huff he’s in by unfollowing Piers on Twitter.
Piers’ latest column in the Daily Mail ran under the headline ‘President Trump’s bats**t crazy coronavirus “cure” theories are not just shockingly senseless and stupid – they’re going to kill people.’
Just hours after it was published on Saturday, Piers confirmed Trump had unfollowed him on the social media platform.
“UPDATE: President @realDonaldTrump has unfollowed me on Twitter, hours after I wrote this @DailyMail column,” Piers tweeted.
Piers’ column comes after a media briefing held by Trump earlier this week, when the president made a series of bizarre comments during a discussion on how coronavirus reacts to different temperatures, climates and surfaces.
He told the assembled press: “I see the disinfectant, where it knocks out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that? By injection inside, or almost a cleaning.
“Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.
“So, that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. Needless to say, do not inject yourself with bleach.”
Following his comments, Piers took to Twitter to blast the president, tweeting: “President Trump’s defence for floating bats**t crazy claims that injecting bleach can kill #coronavirus is that he was being “sarcastic”.
“FFS @realDonaldTrump – this is not a joke. 50,000 Americans are dead & many more will die. Stop this nonsense & get serious.”
Piers, who has has previously secured exclusive interviews with the US president because of their friendship, is still following his pal Donald despite the quick unfollow.
