Pippa Middleton Gets All Gushy About Cricket (Sigh)
|

After she told us just how much she loves playing tennis and eating strawberries all summer long in her previous column for Vanity Fair, it turns out Pippa Middleton has another passion - cricket.

That's right - Duchess Kate's sister "explains the beloved and befuddling British game" in Vanity Fair's September issue. (Before you ask what makes Pippa an expert on the game, the magazine reminds us she's an "ex-cricket WAG". Pippa dated former cricketer Alex Loudon before Nico Jackson so yeah, she's obviously a pro).

So - what gems of wisdom does Pippa share in her latest column? Here's the opening snippet:

"As a former member of the cricket WAGs (wives and girlfriends of players), I have many happy memories of afternoons spent lying on the grass and hearing the satisfying clunk of leather ball on willow bat". SIGH.

Thanks Pip, but we know what a WAG is (and it's highly likely that your American readers do too) and that "satisfying clunk"? Um, suddenly indulging in strawberries and cream sound like a blast.

After she goes into the details of cricket lingo and the history of Lord's (snore), the gushing gets worse.

"... there is a tradition of the sultry cricketer powering in from the boundary or effortlessly gliding a ball to the boundary, tousled hair blowing in the breeze, his whites signifying a purity of action-oops, I almost forgot myself. Better have a cup of tea".

Translation - Pippa thinks men in cricket whites look hot. Nothing wrong with that, but wouldn't it be good if she would just say it how it is, without all this talk of breeze-blowing and pure actions?
