Police are hunting a football thug who battered a grandfather in front of his terrified grandchildren on a train.
The victim was returning from a day trip with his wife and three grandchildren, aged between six and 12 years old, when the attacker started to swear at them.
When the granddad told the thug to stop he was punched three times in the head.
The attack happened on a train from Southend to London on the evening of August 23.
British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a man wearing a West Ham United football top who they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.
Investigating officer, PC Kelly Durant, said: "This was a brutal and violent attack on a man who was simply standing up to abusive and anti-social behaviour.
"This type of violence is not tolerated and we will do all we can to locate the man responsible and bring him to justice.
"The image is clear - if you recognise him or witnessed the shocking incident - I'd urge you to contact police."
