Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in central London.
Officers were called at around 8pm on Sunday to reports of a woman injured in a collision with a car in Hyde Park Corner.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended to find a woman injured.
The victim, aged in her mid-40s, was then taken to a central London hospital for treatment. Her condition has been assessed as non life-threatening but may be life-changing.
A witness said the woman could be heard “screaming” in pain during the collision which is thought to have followed an altercation.
Tourist Deepak Anand, who was visiting from Canada, saw the incident while travelling travelled on a bus with his wife and seven-year-old son.
“This one man tried to pull out the driver of this Range Rover but he kept on trying to drive away,” he said.
“This woman had been crushed between the two cars. She was screaming and looked in pain. The driver of the Range Rover tried to get away, but police Tasered him. I don’t know why anyone would try to run in a situation like that. Police were there very quickly, they must have been nearby.”
Officers are investigating an allegation that a Land Rover was deliberately driven at the woman, trapping her against a Mercedes car.
This Mercedes was then in collision with a stationary bus, there were no reports of anyone injured on the bus.
A 23-year-old man, the suspected driver of the Land Rover, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray; a Taser was discharged by officers during the arrest.
The arrested man did not require hospital treatment and was taken into custody, he was later further arrested on suspicion of GBH and driving whilst disqualified.
He remains in custody at a central London police station as enquiries continue.
The Met added that a second man subsequently complained of feeling unwell and had been taken to hospital.
Anand said his son had been shaken by the incident, adding: “I’m not sure that we’d choose to visit London as a matter of priority in the future given the safety concerns, particularly with our son.”
