The first pictures have emerged of a police officer who was run over and killed during a car chase.
Police have launched a murder investigation after Merseyside policeman David Phillips was struck by a stolen car as he stood holding a “stop stick” on a central reservation in Wallasey, on Merseyside, according to the Telegraph.
He was hit at speed when the red Mitsubishi pick-up - stolen during a burglary - mounted the kerb at around 2.08am on Monday.

The vehicle sped away immediately afterwards.
He was given first aid by colleagues rushed to hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police found the vehicle, which was taken from a property in Birkenhead, soon after.
CCTV is now being examined and forensic examinations taking place near the scene.
According to Sky News, Merseyside Police said in a statement: "An investigation in to the murder of the officer has been launched and detectives are examining CCTV footage in a bid to identify the offenders.
