Another week of lockdown has passed, and while the thing we shall not name has dominated the news, positive moments have still shone through the darkness.
Here, we’re celebrating the weird, wonderful and downright amusing videos and pictures that stopped us in our tracks. Enjoy these five minutes of light relief.
Wee granny addresses the nation.
A small but mighty Scottish grandma shared a video update with her family that made it onto social media. It’s become the nation’s much-needed morale boost.
“Hello everybody, I’m still here,” the 93-year-old says in the video. “I tell you I’m like a bad penny, there’s no getting rid of me.
“I hope you’re all keeping well and doing what you’re told. Keep to the rules and you will all be fine, it will all pass. Bye bye for now.”
Would gladly sign a petition for daily wee granny updates. Anyone else?

The Body Coach, who has become the nation’s unofficial PE teacher, has really taken off – and he’s not just a hit with the kids. Joe Wicks has got parents and non-parents working out, too – and now the nation’s canines are obsessed.

Cat’s batting skills are just the cricket.
Some people have far too much time on their hands during this lockdown and honestly, we’re here for it. Introducing Loki the cat and a fabulous recreation of England v Australia at the Ashes last year – featuring lots of (hopefully not stockpiled) tins. Loki, who plays Ben Stokes, smashed it out the park. Iconic.

An iconic meme made even better as a Zoom background. Now he just needs the potato filter and we’re good to go.
Housemates recreate the Jubilee line from the shower.
The attention to detail in this short film (which, let’s face it, deserves an Oscar – or at the very least a replica trophy made out of cardboard) is something else. The sounds, the lights, that guy who stands in the way of the doors as they open. Truly a work of art.
‘BBC dad’ returns to the nation’s screens.
In 2017, Robert Kelly appeared on a live BBC news broadcast to discuss the South Korean president’s impeachment, only to be interrupted by his two young children who waded into his office during the interview.
So, it was a rather pleasant surprise to find him on the nation’s screens again this week – this time with his whole family in tow. His kids have grown a lot, but there’s not much change for Kelly. Our fave TV family, for sure.
Dog’s trampolining skills are next level.
Not much to say about this one except: a) this dog is having the best time and b) if anyone else did that they’d throw up. Show off.
