The Queen and Prince Philip visited a maternity unit in Cambridge yesterday - and appeared to take quite an interest in water births!
Perhaps hopeful of picking up a tip or two for their pregnant granddaughter-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, the Queen listened intently as new mum Claire Morris, 42, and her partner Stephen Tibbett, 44, proudly showed off their new baby and explained how they had used the birthing-pool in the city's Rosie Maternity Hospital.
The Express reports that Claire told the Queen she had given birth in the early hours to a daughter weighing 8lb 3oz, and had explained to her the intricacies of water births!
"The heat is a bit relaxing and gives pain relief – and water means you're less weighted," she reportedly told the Queen.
"The Queen was interested in the birthing pool. Maybe she's doing some research for Kate – who knows?" the proud new mum later told reporters.
