Talk about a lesson in life! Primary school teacher Diane Krish-Veeramany gave birth in a classroom - just minutes before lessons were due to start.

The 30-year-old said she felt 'a bit weird' and so went into a free room - and 20 minutes later gave birth to 'miracle' son Jonah, who arrived a week early, weighing a healthy 9lbs.

Now recovering at home, mum-of-two Diane said: "Suddenly there was a head - I pushed and the baby came out. Teaching assistants just scooped it up from under me. I see it as a miracle."

Husband Vijaye Veeramany, 31, arrived minutes later.

He said: "It was very surreal."

Manford Primary in Hainault, Essex, gave the assistants medals on Friday, and renamed the 'delivery' classroom Jonah's Room.
