Change Your Mind: Would Regional Pay In The Public Sector Be Fair?

Earlier this week, the right-wing thinktank Policy Exchange published a new report calling for regional pay to replace national pay in the public sector, in order to bring salaries in line with remuneration rates in the private sector. The thinktank believes such a change could save the taxpayer £6.3bn a year and create hundreds of thousands of new jobs. Public sector unions disagree - and see the proposal as a Trojan horse for slashing public sector pay. Below, Ed Holmes of Policy Exchange debates Dave Prentis, general secretary of Unison.
