Are leggings your guilty style pleasure? Do you wear them for comfort, regardless of how sartorially questionable they are?
If the answer is yes, you might want to avoid Qatar because a new campaign - "Reflect Your Respect" - BANS women from wearing leggings in the name of modesty.
The Twitter bio for the campaign reads: "Reflect your respect is a Qatari campaign that expects tourists to dress modestly in public". Meanwhile, campaign leaflets state: "Leggings are not Pants" (pants being trousers, obvs).
While we totally respect Qatar has its own culture and values, surely leggings aren't that offensive? Also aren't these bum-destroying trousers what every good tourist wears when jet-setting to sunny destinations? Damn.
The campaign's code of conduct also says: "It is expected that you wear decent clothes and women should avoid wearing any garments that are too tight, too short or translucent such as mini-skirts or sleeveless dresses.
"Both men and women should also avoid walking around in their swimming suits away from the beaches or swimming pools".
Okay, so if you were planning a trip to Qatar this summer, you may need to rethink your holiday wardrobe and invest in a pool-side robe or summer knit. We're guessing you could risk a kaftan/sarong, but leave the leggings at home, ok?
