Quentin Jones's New Habitat Homeware: Here's Why We've Got Our Eyes On The Collection

Ever get the feeling you’re being watched? The eye motif is currently so popular in fashion and homeware that you’ll have seen it everywhere from vases to earrings – but rarely as stylishly as in Quentin Jones’s new capsule textiles collection for Habitat.

Jones is an illustrator who has worked with the likes of British Vogue and Victoria Beckham but now her debut high-street collaboration brings her graphic, mixed-media style off the page and into your home.

Launching online today, it follows Habitat’s successful hook-up with Shrimps, but the pink pillowcases and duvet sets have been swapped for soft furnishings in modernist blue, red, yellow and black.

“I love simple monochromatic, and primary palettes,” says Jones who adds that she is “drawn to bold graphic shapes, with minimal fuss” – something she puts down to growing up with two architects for parents.

We think there’s something a little bit Picasso, a little bit Matisse about it. Pieces don’t come cheap, but fans might stretch to a cushion on pay day – priced here at £60 – or if you’re really looking to splash out, a statement rug that will add personality to your sitting room.

Top of our picks is this witty pair of cushions – one eye open, one blinking, winking or eyelash-fluttering, depending on how you want to see it.

Buy the pair if you can. As Jones told Vogue: “if you put the eyes next to each other, the seat looks like a mouth and it becomes a big Sesame Street-style face”. We like her cultural references!

If hearts are more your thing, you might prefer this for your pad. Jones’s collage-style reminds of art school class, and that’s a good thing – like many designers before her, she trained at Central St Martin’s and isn’t afraid to show it.

Jones has blown up her artworks to a huge scale for the rugs in the collection, which measure 170 x 240cm. This one is designed to look like torn-up paper, but the looped pile adds depth and softness for your tired feet.

Like one of those wordclouds your boss used to make you put in the work presentations – only oodles more stylish. Jones loves blue and we do too!

The choice if you really can’t choose. More is more – but make sure you keep things simple around this rug – as the face says everything you need.
