Katy Perry, Coldplay and One Direction are just three of the chart-topping acts who took to the stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Glasgow during the last two days, where Rita Ora, Ed Sheeran and The Vamps also performed.

Katy Perry headlined on Sunday 25 May, delighting fans who had stood through the rain with a selection of her hits while Coldplay were headliners on Saturday.

While One Direction left the Scottish city on private jets just hours after their performance, Coldplay’s Chris Martin stuck around for the Sunday, when he surprised fans by joining Kings Of Leon on-stage.

For fans who weren’t lucky enough to make it to the festival, many of the gigs were broadcast live on Radio 1, including sets from Ed Sheeran and ‘Money On My Mind’ creator Sam Smith, who also found out his new single is the official UK number one live on air.

It wasn’t all about the huge A-listers though as on the In New Music We Trust and BBC Introducing stages plenty of up-and-coming artists were given their chance to impress.

Lorde and Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic both performed on the In New Music We Trust stage on Saturday, while Sunday saw BBC Introducing play host to Royal Blood - who supported Arctic Monkeys at Finsbury Park recently - and Rosie Lowe.
