Real Madrid Match With Rayo Vallecano Postponed After Lighting 'Sabotage' (PICTURES)

Was Madrid's Match Postponed Due To Sabotage?

Real Madrid's Primera Liga match with Rayo Vallecano was bizarrely postponed on Sunday night after the floodlights at the Estadio de Vallecas had been sabotaged.

Rayo's president Raul Martin Presa revealed vandals had cut the cables on some of the lights, and although workmen endeavoured to repair the fault the game was ultimately called off.

Confusion also abounds as to when the game will be rescheduled for, after Madrid's director of football Miguel Pardeza said he wanted the fixture to be replayed at 5pm on Monday.

"We have a very packed calendar and Rayo obviously does not," he told Spanish television.

However Presa said the proposal was "almost impossible" because the time would prevent several thousand Rayo fans from attending the game.

Madrid, who have won just one league game out of four this season, are now 11 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
