Rebecca Adlington Splits From Husband Harry Needs After 18 Months Of Marriage

'It is on amicable terms and we still remain close friends.'

Former Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington has split from her husband just 18 months after tying the knot.

In a statement on the her website, Rebecca said the couple had split on ‘amicable terms’ and insisted they would remain ‘close friends’.

It read: "It's after much thought and sadness that we confirm our separation. It is on amicable terms and we still remain close friends.

"We move forward with respect for one another and our focus and commitment is on parenting our gorgeous daughter Summer.

"This will be our only comment on this private matter."

The 27-year-old gold medallist and Harry Needs, 24, wed in August 2014 in Staffordshire.

She later revealed she had married her ‘best friend’ adding that that they ‘can’t wait for our next chapter together as parents".

They welcomed their baby daughter Summer in June last year, but Rebecca later admitted her arrival had left the couple ‘knackered’, and led to many rows, which had put a strain on their marriage..

"Being a parent is bloody hard work and anyone who says it's easy is flat out lying,” she said in January..

"Harry and I have had plenty of arguments... We're knackered. A lot of mums have six or eight months off. I had two months and had to go back to work. That's what you do when you're self-employed."
