Rebekah Vardy has said she is determined to “clear her name” amid her ongoing legal battle with fellow WAG Coleen Rooney.
Last year, Rebekah inadvertently made headlines across the globe when Coleen claimed her Instagram account was the source of fake stories appearing in The Sun newspaper. The former I’m A Celebrity star has always vehemently denied the accusations – in what became dubbed the “WAGatha Christie” row.
Earlier this year, Rebekah began a libel lawsuit against Coleen over the matter, which she discussed during an appearance on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, where she was also unveiled as the latest celebrity competing on next year’s Dancing On Ice.
Although she said she couldn’t say much for legal reasons, Rebekah told Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan: “Look, we tried to sort things out amicably, it just didn’t work. I understand people think it’s ridiculous, but what was I meant to do? I need to clear my name. I want to clear my name.
“I will do whatever that takes. I hope it’s going to be resolved soon. It’s just one of the things that has to go through the process unfortunately now.”
Rebekah quickly added: “I found it really tough – but to be fair, Piers, in comparison to what some people have gone through with Covid and things like that, it’s incomparable.”
Coleen recently said she found the lawsuit “disappointing”, suggesting the money involved could have been put to better use in a pandemic.
Discussing her upcoming appearance on Dancing On Ice, which will begin airing in January 2021, Rebekah added: “My dad taught me how to stand up on a pair of skates when I was about seven years old, we used to go skating a lot when my mum and dad split up, we would go with him to the local ice rink.
“I’m really excited actually. The only time I’ve been ice skating since is when we take our kids to the rink.”
She also said that husband Jamie felt her appearance on the show was a “brilliant idea”, adding: “He is really looking forward to watching me and he hopes I don’t fall over too much. I hope I don’t fall over too much.”
