Richard And Judy Returning To Host This Morning After 18 Years

The couple were the original hosts of the ITV morning show between 1988 and 2001.

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have announced they’ll be staging a return to This Morning next month.

The husband-and-wife duo will guest present an episode of the ITV daytime show in October, 18 years after stepping down as hosts.

“This Morning holds a very special place in our hearts, so we couldn’t be more delighted to take the helm once again,” Richard and Judy said (we assume in unison, but the ITV press release didn’t go into the specifics).

Richard and Judy were hosts of This Morning when it launched in 1988, holding the job for 13 years until they eventually quit in 2001, making the move to Channel 4 where they launched their own tea-time show.

Last month, the pair made headlines when they returned to This Morning as guests, where they were interviewed by former The Saturdays singers Mollie King and Rochelle Humes, leading to their upcoming guest spot.

This Morning chief Martin Frizell explained: “The This Morning family, both in the studio and at home, have been wanting to see Richard and Judy guest present the show for a while now. The time finally felt right and we can’t wait to have these broadcasting legends back on the sofa.”

Earlier this month, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield celebrated their 10-year anniversary of working together.

To mark the occasion, Ant and Dec surprised them live on air with a This Is Your Life-inspired segment, in which they reflected on their time presenting alongside one another on the morning show.

Catch Richard and Judy in action on 25 October from 10.30am on ITV.
