Police have appealed for information that might assist in the search for a missing diplomat who went missing while out for a run last week.

Richard Morris, from Bentley, was last seen at 10.30am on May 6.

The 52-year-old was ambassador to Nepal from November 2015 to November 2019 and was due to become British High Commissioner to the Republic of Fiji in July.

In a statement, Hampshire Constabulary said: “It is believed that Richard, who is described as being white with greying hair and a beard and a distinctive birth mark on his face, was running in the local area when he went missing.

“He was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeved top with a half zip, black shorts and blue trainers.”

Police have asked people in the area to “assist by checking sheds, outbuildings and gardens” but not to look further than their own properties so they don’t disrupt the official search.

They added: ”We would also love to hear from any residents or businesses with CCTV that could help our enquiries.”
