Rihanna took glittering red carpet glamour to another level for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards 2014 in New York.
The 26-year-old Bajan beauty wore a bespoke Adam Selman halterneck gown accessorised with gloves and a headscarf covered in Swarovski crystals (216,000 to be precise). This is definitely one way to outshine everyone else at a party.
The fact the look manages to be simultaneously sheer and elegant is kind of impressive, and the glamour didn't stop with there - just check out the star's fur boa and blingy jewellery.
But then, perhaps she knew she'd have plenty to celebrate. Scooping the Fashion Icon Award, she said: "I grew up in a really small island and I didn't have a lot of access to fashion but as far as I can remember, fashion has always been a defence mechanism. I remember thinking 'she can beat me, but not my outfit'."
There was no outdoing Rihanna and while she sipped champagne with the industry's finest (Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell, Solange Knowles, Joan Smalls, Lupita Nyong'o and Marion Cotillard) it was all about her "so naked dress".
RiRi's stylist Mel Ottenberg told Style.com: "I don't know if it's shocking - I'm with her all the time, so my shock gauge is off, but I told her that I thought she was ready for this dress a while ago."
And what did the designer Adam Selman say? "We definitely wanted to make it a little bit scandalous.
"The dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed. But fashion is about beauty, and the [female] body is part of that."
We couldn't agree more, and if anyone can get away will this sheer siren style it's Rihanna.
